A Historic Restoration Project

Project Summary

Our creative design team flew into action and “through the hoops” to develop and submit the best plans for this culturally significant property in Salem. For this project we restored a step system to match the historic record, meeting today’s safety standards and to providing a durable flatwork solution connecting the home’s robust porch to the streetscape. A soldier course used clay brick masonry band now lines the front walk for additional color and clean lines. A custom handrail design complements the porch’s balustrade, unifying the look. Our aesthetic and materials selections are simple and elegant, and historically appropriate for the architecture and the period of significance for this lovely home. Simple miracles are sometimes the best ones!
