Nature’s Edge Entry Courtyard
Project Summary
Once just a boring lawn and entry step, this new design now offers a lovely, lush greeting space to welcome our client’s guests with vibrant charm and thoughtful design. We adopted the byzantium/ fuschia shades of our client’s lovely house trim, and repeated these tones in the sequential and seasonal color palette of the plant materials. Framed by flourishing flowering perennials—such as cheerful ECHINACEA purpurea-Purple Coneflower, the stately sunset-colored PHORMIUM x tenax-New Zealand Flax, and the freedom of movement of the delicately-bladed PENNISETUM alopecuriodes-Fountain Grass– the space comes alive with color, texture, and seasonal interest. The larger growing plants providing a bit of privacy enclosure from the street, with the shorters yielding contrast and color accent along the approach.
A welcoming pint-sized patio offers a perfect little spot to pause and admire the dwarf plant collection and lawn alternatives planted in the foreground, with stone footfalls leading around a corner to a sensible arrangement of raised beds brimming with herbs, vegetables, and pollinator-friendly plants. Sweet peas climb freely on the durable double-duty trellising, effectively claiming the space and providing a lovely summertime curtain. This quaint focalization is close enough in proximity with which to gather the herbs for tonight’s dinner, and to be included in the aesthetic picture of the frontage landscape–a key ingredient of The Garden Angels’ recipe to help spiritually connect our clients to their outdoor environs. This harmonious space with purposeful design unifies house to garden, welcomes guests and functions as a productive, beautiful space. What more can you ask of an outdoor space? The Garden Angels love to help our clients enjoy the most of all of their outdoor spaces!
