Madrona Pocket: Our Legacy Garden
Project Summary
Formerly the home and garden of The Garden Angels’ Principal Designer, this legacy garden is the premier example of her signature design fundamentals. The 1929 English Tudor cottage and attending neo-classical style gardens, has been carefully crafted into South Salem’s most remarkable hidden treasure. We hope it’s new owner will continue to steward the design intentions Ms. Powers curated for this special property, for decades to come.
Many in our area have been friends and enthusiasts of our work, and have toured this lovely garden over the years. You may be among them, and may be very surprised to hear that the garden has been sold. We are not gone! Ms. Powers and the team at The Garden Angels have merely moved on to a new chapter! Please drop in and see us at our design studio and offices close by, at 2160 Davcor Street SE in Salem–just down the street by the airport. We can show you what we are up to these days!
So, please respect the privacy of the new owner–as this garden is no longer open to the public or under the control of Ms. Powers or The Garden Angels in any way.
Stay tuned to this space for more information about the overall composition of this wonderful garden, and the 22 years in the making of it. We will describe the transformation of a difficult site into a place of wonder, share some personal recollections, Ms. Powers’ favorite images, and descriptions of special plants and collections in the garden. Finally, we will discuss more about the living legacy we Garden Angels leave on the ground in this spirited place, influencing the local vernacular of the Willamette Valley.
